Cat Zingano is one of the top women’s mixed martial artists on the UFC roster, most notably fighting Ronda Rousey for the UFC women’s bantamweight title back in February 2015. Unfortunately, personal tragedy and injuries temporarily put her career on hold, but she ws able to return to the Octagon in March 2018 at UFC 222. Now, she is looking to return to the win column after three-straight losses. Zingano’s last win came over current champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 178 in September 2014, the fight that earned her a shot at the title.
Zingano (9-3) is a seasoned veteran, having been training in various mixed martial arts since middle school.
“I’ve been training since middle school,” Zingano said in her official UFC bio. “I was a college wrestler. After I was done competing I heard about BJJ and fell in love with the sport. I took my first MMA fight in 2007. I was the No. 1 ranked 125-pound fighter in the world in 2011. I hold the Fight to Win 125 & 135-pound titles, the Ring of Fire 125 & 135-pound titles, and I was the only female American that qualified for ADCC in 2011.”
Zingano’s next appearance comes at UFC Fight Night 133 against Marion Reneau on Saturday, July 14 in Boise, Idaho.
“I’ve never underestimated her as a force,” Zingano said of her opponent. “Each day I focus on outworking her, out strategizing her, outsmarting her, taking care of my body and mind so when the time comes, every fiber of me is prepared and focused to perform at my best. ”
